Summary

HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah – Energy Systems Group (ESG), a leading energy services provider, joined Hill Air Force Base (AFB) officials for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the installation of a new 3.55 megawatt (MW) direct control solar photovoltaic (PV) array that will help increase Hill AFB’s renewable energy production. Event speakers included Colonel Jon A. Eberlan, Commander of the 75th Air Base Wing; Nickolas King, Base Energy Manager; Harry Briesmaster, Base Civil Engineer, and Steve Spanbauer, ESG Senior Vice President.

The solar PV is part of an energy savings performance contract (ESPC) awarded to ESG by the Defense Logistics Agency in May 2018. Power generated by the new array will be used as it is produced and will provide Hill AFB with increased energy production that will be particularly useful during peak electrical consumption periods during the summer months.

ESG is currently implementing a wide range of energy conservation measures that will help Hill AFB add energy resilience and offset conventional energy sources with renewable green-energy production including new LED lighting in 162 buildings to save energy and improve lighting conditions and upgrades to the steam distribution system, compressed air system, and various other ventilation and control systems.
