Steve Spanbauer named ESG president

Evansville, Ind. Steve Spanbauer has been promoted to president of Energy Systems Group and corporate vice president of CenterPoint Energy, effective immediately. In this role, Steve will be responsible for developing a strategic plan to promote revenue, profitability and growth. He will continue to ensure ESG’s strategic objectives are met and that safety is a top priority.

Formerly the Federal Sector business lead for ESG, Steve has more than 25 years of leadership experience in the energy infrastructure and public/private infrastructure industry. He has successfully led teams to achieve significant growth in both the federal and public sector businesses. Throughout his career, Steve has held increasing levels of responsibility across different roles and integrating significant areas of the business. Given his background and experience, Steve will provide the leadership and overall strategic vision needed to help drive results for ESG.

At ESG, Steve re-engineered organizational structure and processes and significantly increased revenue through growth and innovation. Before joining ESG, Steve served as global director, Federal Solutions for Johnson Controls, where he led teams in sales, engineering, program management and business development in the building efficiency and power solutions businesses.

Steve earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, and a master’s degree of business administration from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota.
