Vilonia School District and ESG Implement Energy Efficiency and Building Improvements

Vilonia, Arkansas – Comprehensive energy efficiency and building improvements are underway at Vilonia School District as part of a $3.2 million energy savings performance contract awarded to Energy Systems Group, LLC (ESG), a leading energy services provider. The improvements are anticipated to result in approximately $5.4 million in energy and operational savings over the 20-year term of the contract and measurably enhance the learning environment. The school district consists of approximately 575,000 square feet of buildings on six campuses and serves more than 3,000 students.

The project includes district-wide improvements such as interior and exterior light-emitting diode (LED) lighting upgrades, controls and building envelope upgrades, and water conservation measures. Additionally, ESG will implement extensive heating, ventilation, and air conditioning upgrades and indoor air quality improvements at the Main Freshman Academy, elementary and primary schools, and high school gymnasium. ESG will also include a community engagement platform through a dedicated project website to keep everyone informed about the project’s progress and benefits.

“The Vilonia School District is a visionary, innovative, student-centered organization that families choose because of our commitment to improving the learning environment and promoting academic excellence,” said Dr. David Stephens, Superintendent. “Using an energy savings performance contract allows for savings gained through energy efficiency to pay for facility improvements over time,” Stephens added. “This time and cost-effective method enables our district to address critical building needs without the requirement of new taxes or upfront capital costs.”

“ESG is proud to partner with Vilonia School District to design and implement these innovative energy efficiency and building improvements,” said Steve Pride, ESG Senior Vice President, Public Sector. “We commend the school district and the school board for their leadership and commitment to modernizing school buildings and promoting exceptional learning environments for Vilonia students, teachers, and staff.”
